Carbon Efficiency Policy

Carbon Efficiency Policy

Last updated: 13 August 2026

We’d rather do a few real things than make big claims. This policy sets out how we keep the carbon cost of our work down — mostly through how we’ve built the studio and the pipeline, not by buying our way out of it.

Lower-carbon by design

The way we work is, by its nature, more efficient than a traditional VFX pipeline:

  • Real-time and in-camera methods. We see the composite on set, so we get it right on the day. Fewer surprises in post means fewer re-renders and less render-farm energy burned re-doing work.
  • One studio, one pipeline — set to final pixel. Because we shoot and finish in the same place, work isn’t rebuilt twice or shipped between vendors. Less duplicated compute, less transport.
  • Right-sizing the approach. We recommend the method that fits the job — often our in-house green screen stage rather than a hired LED volume — which usually means less power draw and less transport, not more.
  • Remote-friendly collaboration. Reviews, approvals, and delivery happen online, so we can work with clients anywhere without flying people back and forth for every review.
  • Digital delivery. We deliver electronically and avoid physical media and couriers wherever we can.

In the studio

  • We choose energy-efficient hardware and keep kit in service for as long as it’s fit for the work, rather than replacing it on a cycle.
  • We power down render and workstation capacity when it isn’t in use.
  • We keep travel to what a job genuinely needs, and combine trips where we can.

Our website

This site is deliberately light: a lean build with efficient caching, so pages transfer less data and take less energy to serve. We host with a UK-based provider.

Being honest about the limits

We’re a small studio, and we won’t pretend our footprint is zero. We don’t currently sell or rely on carbon offsets to make our numbers look better. What we can control, we do: efficient methods, less travel, less wasted compute. As we grow, we intend to measure our impact more formally and set targets we can actually stand behind.

Working with clients

If sustainability matters to your production, tell us. We can plan the shoot and pipeline to keep travel, energy, and waste down — and be straight with you about the trade-offs.

Review

We keep this policy under review and will update it as our practices develop.
