AI Policy

vedrí vfx is a visual effects studio, not an AI film company. We use software — including some AI-assisted tools — the way a compositor uses a node graph: as instruments in the hands of skilled people. This policy sets out where AI fits in our work, and where it doesn’t.
Our position
Every shot we deliver is authored, judged, and finished by people. AI-assisted tools can speed up parts of the craft, but they don’t make the creative decisions and they don’t sign off the work. A human does.
Where AI fits
We use AI-assisted tools to support the craft, not to replace it. In practice that can include:
- Cleanup and paint — assisting rotoscoping, paint-outs, and object removal.
- Restoration and image quality — machine-learning denoise, upscaling, frame interpolation, and plate restoration.
- Keying, matting, and tracking — assisting green screen keys, matte generation, and camera or object tracking.
- Concept and elements — generative tools for early concept exploration, textures, and background elements.
In each case a supervisor and artist direct the tool, check the result frame by frame, and take responsibility for what ships.
What we don’t do
- We don’t make “AI films” — generative output isn’t our product; finished visual effects are.
- We don’t create or use synthetic performers, faces, voices, or likenesses of real people without explicit, informed consent.
- We don’t pass off fully generated imagery as captured footage without the client’s knowledge.
- We don’t feed your footage, scripts, or confidential material into public or third-party AI models to train them.
Your material stays yours
Client footage, plates, scripts, and briefs are confidential. We don’t use them to train AI models, and we don’t share them with AI providers except where a specific tool is genuinely needed to do the work you’ve asked for — and then only under appropriate confidentiality terms. If you’d prefer we avoid AI-assisted tools on your project entirely, tell us; we’ll scope the work that way.
Consent, rights, and provenance
- We respect performers’ rights and only work with likenesses where proper consent is in place.
- We only use tools and source material we’re licensed to use, and we respect third-party intellectual property.
- Where a client needs to know which tools touched their work — for broadcast compliance, disclosure, or their own AI policy — we’ll tell them.
Accountability
A named vedrí supervisor is accountable for the tools and methods used on every project. We keep this policy under review as the technology, and the rules around it, continue to change.
